Abstract

Silver nanoparticles with antimicrobial, anti-cancer and biocatalyst properties have various applications. There are many different methods for the production of silver nanoparticles, but the use of plants in the synthesis of nanoparticles has received much attention due to its low cost and environmental friendliness. According to research, silver nanoparticles have been produced biologically using aqueous extracts of various medicinal plants. This study was designed and conducted with the aim of reviewing silver nanoparticles made from different medicinal plants. In the reviewed studies, it is observed that the antibacterial property of the mixture is significantly increased. So far, little research has been done on the production method of silver nanoparticles and there is a wide field for activity in this field. Studies have so far suggested that hydroxyl groups, amines and aldehydes play a major role in the reduction of silver ions and the production of silver nanoparticles. The importance of understanding the basic method of nanoparticle production is that by knowing this process, we can help improve the efficiency of nanoparticle production and introduce this method in high dimensions as a cost-effective method. Also, by having accurate information about this process, the size and shape of nanoparticles can be controlled.
