Abstract

In this study, Pd/α-Al2O3 catalysts were synthesized using stirring impregnation (SI) and ultrasonic impregnation (UI) methods and evaluated in acetylene hydrogenation reactions. The results demonstrated the superiority of UI over SI method, which is attributed to enhancement of metal dispersion to %22, minimization of impregnation time from 8 to 1h, diminishment of support dissolution from %8 to around zero and also more uniform particle size distribution. The catalytic performance improved with the optimization of ultrasonic impregnation time to 60 minutes and drying temperature to 110°C. These results highlight the potential of UI as an efficient and sustainable method for the synthesis of high-performance catalysts in acetylene hydrogenation and related applications.
