Abstract
One of the effective ways of the training of efficient human resources needed for
the development of a country is the enabling and strengthening of the educational
system. Using information and communication technologies (ICT) for the
acquisition of knowledge and skills has become an essential element of education
these days. Information based on ICT ca enable learners to learn without
limitations in time and space. The use of ICT marks a modern curriculum. ICT has
indeed changed the pattern of education by enriching existing models and provided
new possibilities in educational practices. This paper presents the concept of ITCbased
teaching and explores how the Iranian higher education system has attempted
to incorporate information and communication technologies into its common
practices. ICT has created new opportunities in higher education because of its
independence from many space and time limitations. It has opened up new
horizons in higher education that require exploration and explanation. It has also
dramatically transformed higher education management. The present paper
attempts to review the existing literature in order to elaborate on some of these
issues. How ICT has changed the educational system to make learners more
autonomous, more interactive, and more flexible will be explained in this work.
