Abstract
3,4-Dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-one and its derivatives are signifcant, especially in the pharmaceutical industry. Regarding the signifcance of the mentioned compounds, in this paper, an efcient method is introduced for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones using nano-cellulose/BF3/Fe3O4 as a Lewis acid catalyst. The desired products are obtained via a one-pot, three-component reaction between the aromatic aldehyde, ethyl acetoacetate and urea. The reaction is performed in ethanol as a green, low-cost and commercially available solvent. Short reaction times, high efciency, room-temperature reaction conditions, the reusability of the catalyst and easy operation are a number of advantages of this method. The catalyst analysis was done by FT-IR, SEM, TEM, XRD, BET, XRF and TGA techniques. All products were characterized by FT-IR and 1 H NMR spectroscopy. In addition, the catalyst showed very good recovery and no loss in the yield was observed after fve sequential reactions
