Abstract
Modern synthetic organic chemistry faces the big challenges of performing chemical reactions through green pathways, with low costs and short reaction times. Multicomponent reactions (MCRs) have a special place in responding to these challenges. For example, MCRs promote combinatorial chemistry by forming several bonds in a single operation without separation and purification of intermediates.1 The alliance of MCRs with ecofriendly protocols, such as those using recyclable nano-catalysts under solvent-free conditions, is pushing laboratory procedures towards "ideal synthesis."
