Abstract
Smart Antenna is one of the modern telecommunication techniques. One of the important types of the smart (intelligent) antenna system is beam forming techniques. The beam forming is usage to estimate Direction of Arrival (DOA) or Angle of Arrival (AOA). DOA based techniques are particularly suited for wireless communication system which utilize different frequencies. In this paper we analysed and compared several beam-forming techniques for DOA estimation in terms of spatial resolution. Classical non-subspace such as Minimum Variance Distortion less Response (MVDR), Min Norm, and last subspace High resolution techniques such as Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC). Also algorithms analysis and performance evaluation are presented for subspace MUSIC algorithm and (MVDR) algorithm. The simulation results shows that, the performance of one algorithm is significantly influenced by both of the environment the system. The MUSIC algorithm has higher resolution and statistically is more efficient than MVDR, and is more suitable for military communication and (5G) networks.
