Abstract

The effect of oxidant flow rate on temperature, heat transfer, and NOx formation of an oxy-fuel flame is investigated using numerical simulation. The finite volume approach is used to solve the governing equations. The realizable k-ε turbulence model and β-PDF model are adopted to simulate the turbulence-combustion interaction. There is a good agreement between the present numerical results and the reference experimental data. The exhaust temperature is decreased with decreasing the oxidant inlet flow rate. As an important result, the adiabatic flame temperature can be considered a key parameter in the oxy-fuel flame applications. Also, it is observed that increasing oxygen inlet angle causes a decrease in NO formation.
