چکیده مقاله

This paper presents a very low power, high fill factor smart CMOS image sensor with motion detection capability which is suitable for surveillance applications. In this temporal-change based method, the imager has two different operation modes, so that unimportant frames including redundant data are processed by the sensor, while the important ones, in which a motion has been detected, are checked by user. A new pixel structure is introduced in this paper that outputs two consecutive frames voltages in series. The differences of these voltages is calculated by a very low-power event generator unit developed in column-level. As a result, not only the proposed image sensor consumes less power, but also a higher fill factor is achieved. The performance of this technique is shown using a 64×64 pixel sensor designed in a 0.18μm standard CMOS technology. The sensor chip consumes 0.4mW of power while operating at 100fps with a fill factor of 45%.
