Abstract
Aim: Present study aimed to determine the relationship of psychological capital and professional ethic with mediating role of defense mechanisms in nurses. Method: Methodology was descriptive- correlation. Population was 1237 nurses in hospitals of Hamedan that 234 nurses selected by random sampling and completed questionnaires of Kadozir, s (2002) professional ethic, Lothaz & et al, s (2007) psychological capital and Androz & et al, s (1993) defense mechanisms. Data were analyzed by Pearson’s correlation and hierarchy regression. Result: There is a positive and significant relationship between psychological capital (hopeful, optimistic, self-efficacy, relicense) and professional ethic (P<0.01). also The results of hierarchy regression showed that the defense mechanisms of matured, immature and neurotic significantly mediate on the relationship between relationship between psychological capital and professional ethic (P<0.01). Conclusion: Defense mechanisms indirectly effect on the relation between psychological capitals and professional ethics. In order to promote professional ethics of nurses, should pay attention to the categories of hopeful, optimistic, resilience, self-efficacy and through counselling and training, nurses were encouraged to use the defense mechanisms of matured.
