Abstract
Introduction: According to evidence based on researchs, mothers’ cognitive-
behavioral skills and interaction with their children is one of the
most important factor in occurrence of ADHD. So Present study aimed
to compare the quality of mother-child relationship and anger self-regulation
skill between mothers of normal and with ADHD children.
Methods: This study was a causal comparative research. forty-two children
between seven to twelve years old with ADHD were selected by
available sampling from students who refered to counseling centers; and
form normal students in Tehran; forty children between seven to twelve
years old were selected by multiple cluster sampling, and their mothers
answered to questionnaires. Data were collected by questionnaires
of mother-child relationship and anger self-regulation skill and were
analyzed by t-student.
Results: Findings indicated that there is significant difference in the
quality of mother-child relationship and anger self-regulation skill between
mothers of normal and with ADHD children. The interaction style
of acceptance and anger self-regulation skill in mothers of students with
ADHD were less than mothers of normal students; and the non-efficient
styles of rejection, over indulgence, overprotection in mothers of students
with ADHD were more than mothers of normal students.(P<0/01)
Conclusions: The results of research provide some evidence to suggest
that children with ADHD can’t internalize effective behavioral patterns
and don’t experience ability of control of impulsive behaviors and mental
processes. Therefore it is recommended for preventing and treatment
ADHD promote the styles of efficient interaction and anger self-regulation
skill in mothers of children with ADHD.
