Abstract
CeF3:Ni2+ and CeF3:Dy3+ nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized using the hydrothermal method. The shape and structure of these NPs were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and energy dispersive spectrometer (EDX) analysis. The size of about 40 nm for the produced NPs was determined by the use of XRD results that are in agreement with observed SEM images. The photoluminescence (PL) and thermolu- minescence (TL) properties of CeF3:Ni2+ and CeF3:Dy3+ were also investigated. The PL emission at 321, 571, 600 nm for CeF3:Dy NPs and 304, 565, and 597 nm for CeF3:Ni NPs were peaked. The optimum TL sensitivity of CeF3:Dy and CeF3:Ni NPs were found at 0.1 mol% of Dy and 0.7 mol% of Ni impurities. The TL peak numbers and kinetic parameters were determined using Tm-Tstop, initial rise, and deconvolution methods.
