Abstract

In this research, the microparticles of alpha alumina doped with dysprosium were synthesized by the solid-state method. The following were used to investigate the structure, size, shape, and chemical composition of particles: X-ray diffraction, scanning electron Microscopy, and energy dispersive spectrometer. The maximum thermolu- minescence response to the gamma rays of the 60Co source was obtained in 0.5 mol% of the dysprosium dopant. A computer program based on general-order kinetics was used to determine the number of peaks in the ther- moluminescence radiation curve and the kinetic parameters related to each peak. The Tm–TStop method was applied to estimate the number of overlapping peaks in the thermoluminescence glow curve. The fabricated sample has a linear thermoluminescence response up to 1000 Gy. Other dosimetric properties of these micro- particles were also investigated.
