Abstract

Rosa damascena Mill. is one of the valuable species with a long history in Iran and some other countries. In order to investigate genetic diversity of Rosa damascena Mill., Start Codon Targeted (SCoT) marker was used in this study that is a rapid and reliable method for understanding the genetic variation and genetic relationships of Rosa damascena. A total of 26 bands were generated from 3 SCoT primers, 17 bands of which were polymorphic. A dendrogram was generated based on the analysis of genetic data using UPGMA showing 3 main groups. The present study showed that SCoT marker is efficient in assessing the genetic variation among Rosa damascena accessions. Keywords: Rosa damascena Mill., SCoT marker, genetic variation
