Chemical composition of essential oil of Launaea acanthodes (Boiss.) from the Iran

The essential oils from the, leaves, stems and inflorescences of Launaea acanthodes (Boiss) were investigated. A total of 48 constituents were identified by combination of GC/FID, GC/MS for the first time. The oil content found for the plant was calculated 0.7530%.The major constituents of Launaea acanthodes oil were n-dodecanal (6.54%.), geranylaceton (7.87%.), β-phenethylisothiocyanate (3.47%.), β-yclocitrylideneacetone (4.58%.), (Z)-3-hexen-1-yl-benzoate(6.91%), benzoic acid n-hexyl ester (5.51%.), γ-Phenylbutyric acid(9.19%.), (2Z,6E) farnesol (4.34%.) and n-hexadecane (6.26%).
