Abstract
In recent decades, the rapid growth in physical and population development of cities has caused major problems in cities. Kashan city is not exempted from this issue due to its age and high growth in population and physical. In fact, this growth has become the cause of disorder in the space and frame of the city, particularly incompatibility in urban uses. Besides, it has caused the spread of the land, increased transportation costs and environmental pollution and likewise, threatened the sustainable development of the city. Therefore, in order to achieve appropriate criteria and planning principles of sustainable urban development, the evaluation of urban uses concerning compatibility index is one of the most significant enterprises in this field. The type of research is applied regarding the purpose and in terms of conduction, the method is analytical-comparative, which has proceeded the investigation and evaluation of the quantitative and qualitative land uses in the city of Kashan, considering the standard index of per capita and compatibility and applying GIS software. Four measures were applied as a foundation for the analysis of land use compatibility indicators comprised of the connection of different practices, lack of proximity to neighboring practices, population density and eventually the size of the land. The findings of the research show that most of the land uses face a severe deficiency in terms of comparing the available per capita with the standard per capita in urban plans, and on the contrary, the analysis of uses regarding the compatibility index indicates the heterogeneity in compatibility among some urban uses with its neighboring uses as diverse as residential use with more than 40 percent, educational use with more than 37 percent, administrative use with 36 percent, therapeutic use with 27 percent, and sports usage with 19 percent, Consequently, to solve the current dilemma, space should be allocated optimally by the administrators of the city to the required uses in future development plans of the city while paying serious attention to the appropriate distribution of neighboring uses based on spatial components.
