Abstract:

Urban management, as a platform for sustainable development and improving the quality of life, requires two-way interaction between citizens and management institutions. This interaction, especially through the active participation of citizens in urban decision-making and planning, can lead to improved living conditions and efficiency of urban management. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the role of public participation in the formation of desirable urban management in the city of Dogonbadan. The type of research is applied in terms of its purpose and descriptive-analytical in terms of its method. Data were collected in two library and field methods and through questionnaires in three economic, socio-cultural and physical indicators. The spatial scope of the research is the city of Dogonbadan. he statistical population studied in this study includes two groups of citizens and managers and experts related to the subject. The sample size for the first group was calculated as 384 people using the Cochran formula and a 95% confidence level. For greater certainty, the researcher selected 400 samples, and from the second group, due to the limited number of officials and experts specializing in the subject under study, 35 people were selected as the sample size. The sampling method for the first group was simple random sampling and for the second group, purposeful sampling. Data analysis was performed at the level of descriptive and inferential statistics. The software required for data analysis and analysis was SPSS, and Amos software was used for structural equation modeling. The research findings showed that public participation in the current urban management of Dogonbadan is not in a good condition with an average below the average of 2.14, 2.40, and 2.41, respectively. Therefore, the results show that the citizens of Dogonbadan do not participate much in the areas of joint investment with the municipality, transferring land to the municipality for carrying out city development activities, as well as creating order and security, and participating in popular organizations and groups to improve neighborhood development
