Abstract:

Parking lots are considered to be one of the most important infrastructure facilities in the city, which play a very important role in reducing marginal parking and traffic on roads. The lack of public parking lots can cause various problems such as wasting time of citizens to find a suitable parking space, occupying space roads and then reduce the capacity of the road and reduce the speed of traffic and increase traffic. This research has been done with the aim of evaluating the existing parking lots in Kashan city for proper efficiency and also providing an optimal model for locating parking lots, which has been collected through library method, available maps and field method. For this purpose, the network analysis model was used to evaluate the service range of the existing parking lots, and the spatial statistics method was used for the spatial evaluation of the existing parking lots, and finally, the AMP model was used in the geographic information system to identify suitable areas for creating parking lots. And after that, the location process has been done based on the effective criteria in locating the public parking lot in the ArcGIS environment. The results of this research show that the central areas of Kashan, near the historical context of the city, including Abazar streets, Ayatollah Kashani intersection, Dolat gate, and 22 Bahman square, have a greater need for parking than other places. Also, the results indicate that travel-absorbing uses in the center of Kashan have a great impact on the distribution of parking lots. So that most of these parking lots are located in the historical area and near the Kashan market. Finally, 4.1 percent (19.244 hectares) of the studied area was found to be of suitable quality and 0.41 percent (1.91 hectares) was determined to be unsuitable for public parking.
