Abstract:

Today, sustainable urban livability is recognized as one of the key axes of urban management, which has wide-ranging effects on the quality of life of citizens and the comprehensive development of cities. In this regard, the aim of the present study is to analyze the dimensions of sustainable urban livability in the city of Kirkuk. The study is applied in terms of its purpose and descriptive-analytical in terms of its nature and method. The method of collecting information is in the form of library studies and field observations. The statistical population of the study consists of the citizens of the city of Kirkuk in Iraq. According to the 2022 census, this city has a population of 1,021,225 people, of whom 400 people are selected as the sample size. The sampling method is simple random sampling. The analysis of the research findings has been carried out at two levels of descriptive and inferential findings, such that statistical tests in SPSS software have been used to analyze the dimensions of sustainable urban livability in the city of Kirkuk, and geographic information system software (ArcGIS) has been used to draw maps. The findings showed that the average economic, social, physical and environmental dimensions of livability in Kirkuk city were 2.45, 2.42, 2.42 and 2.43 respectively, all of which were evaluated as below average. Therefore, it can be concluded that Kirkuk city is in an unfavorable situation in terms of livability indicators and that comprehensive planning and corrective measures in all dimensions are necessary to improve the quality of life of citizens.
