Abstract
Target tracking has a wide range of applications in fields using wireless sensor networks. However, localization accuracy adversely degrades in non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environ- ments. In this paper, we address the target tracking problem with NLOS mitigation for received signal strength (RSS) measure- ments. First, a cost function is derived based on the geometrical dilution of precision (GDOP) for the RSS measurements. Then, a new adaptive method for sensor selection is proposed in which the active set of sensors is determined based on absolute vector innovations compatible with the actual tracking error. Simulation results show the superior performance of the proposed method to the existing methods where the propagation condition is not identified and employed in localization procedure.
