Abstract

Various techniques have been developed and employed by potters throughout history to decorate ceramic surfaces, each with its own unique characteristics. One of these decorative techniques is the use of lustre glazes, which, compared to other techniques, offer a distinctly different visual appeal. The method of making these glazes was once a well-guarded secret through the history of ceramics. Over time, and with advancements in mass media, the mystery surrounding this decorative method has diminished, and today, much of the necessary information for making these glazes is widely available. However, simplifying and making this information practical is an area that still holds potential for development, and this is the focus of this short article.
