Effect of protective PDMS layer on separative performance of nano-composite PEBA membrane

Polyether block amid- nano zeolite 13X (PEBA-13X) membrane on polysulfone/ polyester (PSf/ PE) support was fabricated, afterward, protected by a thin polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) layer. The membrane was characterized by SEM and AFM and operationally comprise with the unprotected PEBA-13X/PSf/ PE .The protective PDMS layer made the membrane performance better as a matter of fact, CO2/N2 selectivity increased about 150%. This enhancement might be duo to cover the pin-hole defect of active layer.
