Nowadays ionic liquid use for gas separation as best green solvent with fantastic separation properties. In this study, we have applied the ionic liquid (IL) as an additive in membrane production to improving separation properties of polyester urethane thin film membrane. The ionic liquids that use in this investigation were [HNMP][CH3SO3]and [HNMP] [SHO4] . Polyurethane/IL membranes were prepared by sol-gel and casting method. The structure of the membranes were studied by using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) and tensile. The polyurethane/IL membranes were studied for gas separation in different pressures of pure N2, CO2, and CH4. The obtained results showed addition of both IL in to PU increased CO2permeation about 3 times rather than pure PU membrane while CO2/N2 selectivity was the same as the pure polyurethane membrane. In polyurethane/IL membrane both gas permeability and selectivity increased with enhancement of pressure.
