NaOH activation of activated carbon for methane storage

Activated carbons has been prepared by NaOH activation for methane storage applications. In this study NaOH/Carbon weight ratios 2:1 was used for preparing monolithic activated carbons for methane adsorption at room temperature. For this sample 40% novolac phenolic resin was used as a binder. BET surface area was investigated. It was found that by changing the NaOH /Carbon weight ratios, the amount of methane adsorption will be changed.
