Abstract

In high power and voltage application BLDC motors are extensively utilized. Because of the benefits higher efficiency and torque or high output power per unit volume. An electrical inverter for driving the BLDC motor is needed. In two-level inverter there are disadvantage of harmonics distortions, electromagnetic interference and higher dv/dt, etc. The multilevel inverters can solve the disadvantages of two-level inverter. This paper suggests a new MPC approach to decline calculations load for cascaded H-Bridge (CHB) five-level inverter (FLI) fed to BLDC motor by selecting three voltage vectors as optimal vectors in each cycle control. Also, this paper represents a comparison between two control method of BLDC motors: control of BLDC motor fed by CHB FLI using MPC approach and control of BLDC motor fed two-level inverter. Qualitative and quantitative investigations have been performed on the obtained results on two methods of control.
