Abstract

In this paper, the penetration of projectiles with different nose shapes into cortical bone is simulated using LS-DYNA. Two rigid cylindrical projectiles with flat and semi-spherical noses are used. The cortical bone is modeled as a cylinder with isotropic properties. Impact velocity is within the ballistic velocity limit and perpendicular to the impact surface.
