Abstract

In this study, the nonlinear refractive index of glucose dissolved in water as a monosaccharide solution was determined using the Z-scan technique. Monosaccharides are usually optically active due to the presence of carbon. This research has been repeated for three concentrations of this substance and for each concentration three times to reduce the measurement error to a considerable extent. Experiments have been conducted using a helium-neon laser with a wavelength of 633nm and a power of 17mW, and it was shown that the nonlinear refractive index increases with increasing glucose concentration.
