چکیده مقاله
In general, the wastewater from a textile industry is characterized by high values of dyes. Color is one of the most obvious indicators of water pollution and discharge of highly colored synthetic dye effluents can be damaging to the receiving water bodies.
The aim of the present study was to isolate a bacterial strain from textile effluent contaminated site to investigate the ability of the bacterial strain to decolorize reactive blue 21 at different concentrations.
The enriched bacterial strain could decolorize reactive dye at different concentrations (50 to 200 mg/l).
The bacterial strain exhibited the maximum decolorization ability at pH 9 and optimum temperature at 32 °C. Supplementing the media with glucose and yeast extract, as carbon and nitrogen source could enhance the dye decolorization efficiency. Such isolated bacterial strain could be applied to biological systems for the effective removal of these dyes from textile effluent wastewater.
