Determination of the Role of Social Intimacy in Prediction of Life Sanctification in Married Students: A Sociocultural Perspectives

Abstract

Introduction. A sociocultural perspective is considered as one of the determinant factors of social relationship, mental health and marital satisfaction within couples' relationship. The aim of this study is to determine the role of social intimacy in life satisfaction among married university students based on sociocultural perspectives.

Methods.The research method was descriptive-correlation. The population consisted of married university students by random sampling of 223 individuals (137 Females and 86 Males), standardized questionnaires completed the study. Data gathered Enrich marital satisfaction questionnaire (1989), Miller Social Intimacy Scale (1982). In addition data were analyzed using SPSS software and in two statistical levels, descriptive (mean and standard deviation) and inferential statistics (t test, correlation matrix and regression analysis).

Results. The relationship between social intimacy and life satisfaction of married students was significant. The results regression analyses yielded that life satisfaction was significantly predicted by social intimacy.

Conclusion. This study confirms the effectiveness of social intimacy in increasing life satisfaction of married students. Compare the results with similar studies, the convergence of some of the results showed.
