The effect of cation distribution on magnetization of ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles

چکیده مقاله

In thisworkzincferrite(ZnFe2O4) nanoparticleshavebeenpreparedbysol–gelmethodintwodifferent media,oneacidicandanotheronebasicandthenannealedatdifferenttemperaturesfrom350to 800 1C. XRDinvestigationsshowthatbothsampleshaveasinglephasespinelstructure.Mean crystallitesizesofthesampleswerecalculated,usingScherrer’sformula,whichare13and16nmfor the samplespreparedinacidicandbasicmedia,respectively.Thevariationofcationdistributioninthe sampleswasestimatedbytheratioof(220)and(222)intensitydiffractionpeaksandtheresults show thatas-preparednanoparticleshavedifferentionicdistributionsincomparisonwiththatofbulk zinc ferrite.Alsotheresultsshowthatbyincreasingannealingtemperaturetheionicdistributionofthe zinc ferritenanoparticlestendstothatofbulksample.Themagneticpropertiesofthesampleswere studiedbyVSMandtheresultsshowthatzincferritenanoparticleshaveaferrimagneticbehavior.Also the morphologyofthepowderswasexaminedbyTEM
