Abstract In this wo rk, we investigate the solitary wave solution o f nonlinear Benjamin– Bona–Mahony–Burgers (BBMB) equation u sing a h igh-order linear finite difference scheme. We prove that this scheme is stable and c onve rg ent with the o rder of O(τ 2 +h4 ). F urthermore, we discuss the ex istence a nd uniqueness of numerical solutions. Numerical results obtained from p ropagation o f a single solitary and interaction o f two and three solitary wave s c onfirm the effi ciency and h igh accuracy of proposed method.
