Abstract

Removal of toxic organic substances is one of the important tasks in wastewater treatment. Recently, heterogeneous catalysts are used for the activation of peroxymonosulfate and hydrogen peroxide in advanced oxidation processes based on sulfate radicals and hydroxyl radicals to remove these substances. The present work reports an ideal system for the degradation of organic matter from the environment. For this purpose, perovskites are used as an efficient catalyst to activate peroxymonosulfate and oxygen water to degrade ciprofloxacin. Perovskites have attracted increasing attention due to their controllable oxidation state and the formation of oxygen vacancies, which accelerates the cycle of redox pairs. Electron paramagnetic resonance suggests that both sulfate and hydroxyl radicals play an important role in advanced oxidation processes.
