Abstract

A novel voltammetric sensor based on a carbon paste electrode modified (CPE) with AlV3O9/CNT nanocomposite (AlV3O9/CNT/CPE) was developed for the determination of two important and effective drugs namely amlodipine (AML) and hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ). Due to the importance of monitoring these drugs, a new electrochemical sensor has been developed using a carbon paste electrode modified with AlV3O9/CNT nanocomposite (AlV3O9/CNT/CPE) . Electrode charge transfer resistances were evaluated by impedance electrochemical spectroscopy (EIS). In phosphate buffer (pH 7.0), AML and HCTZ exibilted an irreversible oxidation peak at about 0.65 and 0.85 V vs Ag/AgCl (3 M KCl), respectively. In optimal conditions, the detection limits of AML and HCTZ in the concentration range of 0.90–90.00 nM were 26.00 nM and 25.00 nM, respectively. Finally, the chronoamperometry method was used to compute the diffusion coefficients (D) of AML and HCTZ on the surface of AlV3O9/CNT/CPE. Based on the results, the CPE modified with AlV3O9/3%CNT nanocomposite can be successfully used to determine AML and HCTZ in the pharmaceutical formulation of tablets and real samples including blood and urine serums. Simultaneous measurement of AML and HCTZ was performed by the proposed sensor without interference.
