Abstract

FeCoNi nanowire arrays with 100 nm diameter were prepared by ac-pulse electrodeposition into the nanopores of hard anodized aluminum oxide templates. The effect of nanowires length on the magnetostatic interactions was investigated using first order reversal curve method. The Fe0.49Co0.41Ni0.10 nanowires with wires length ranging from 19 to 41 m showed interacting pseudo single-domain behavior. The coercivity and squareness enhanced from 415 Oe and 0.38 to 460 Oe and 0.46, showing the decrease in magnetostatic interactions between the nanowires. It was detected that an increase in wire length results in an increase in the spread of the distribution in the Hu direction of FORC distribution. This indicates dominant effect of inter-wire magnetostatic interaction to interior exchange interaction of nanowires. As the length decreases, a tail appears along Hc axis, the origin of which can be attributed to non-uniform length distribution of nanowires.
