Abstract

(CoFe)1xCux (x¼0.12–0.84) nanowirearrayswereac-pulseelectrodepositedintoanodicaluminum oxidetemplates.TheelectrodepositionwasperformedinaconstantelectrolytewhileCucontentwas controlled byoff-timebetweenpulses.Nanowireswith30nmdiameterandthecertainlengthswiththe both bcc-CoFeandfcc-Cuphaseswereobtained.Magnetizationandcoercivityofthenanowires decreased withincreasingtheCucontent.Annealingimprovedthecoercivityandaremarkableincrease in magnetizationofnanowireswithhighCucontentswasobserved.Atwo-phasetreatmentwasseenfor annealed sampleswithhighCucontents.Firstorderreversalcurvesshowedahardmagneticphasewith almost constantmagneticpropertiesandcoercivityof 2500Oe.Theresultsshowedthatmainsourceof the variousmagneticbehaviorsofthesamplesmaybeattributedtoincreaseinsoftmagneticphase. A singledomaintreatmentwithanarrowinteracting field andcoercive field distributionswasalso observed fortheannealedsampleswithhighCucontent.
