چکیده مقاله

A clear processing technique has been applied by carbothermal reduction to produce an ultra-high temperature nanoceramic. In the first step, the reaction of 2-hydroxyacetophenone (hap) and trimesic acid (benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylic acid, tma) with the respective solutions of the zirconium alkoxide using citric acid (C6H8O7) and boric acid (H3BO3) yielded the zirconium diboride (ZrB2) precursors. In the second step, the synthesis procedure followed by argon treatment was employed to obtain the final pure phase ZrB2 nanocrystallites with a diameter of about 50 nm at 1500°C. The chelating agent used in the preparation of nanoparticles plays the predominant role on the size of the final product. Changing the ligand content demonstrated that applying the appropriate amount of Schiff-base compound could be effective in fine morphology of the ZrB2.
