Step-likeHgSnanostructureshavebeensynthesizedwithoutsurfactantandorganic solventsbyawetchemicalroute.FoursetsofHgSnanostructureshavebeensynthesized at 140,160,180and200 1C forvariousreactiondurations(8,12and24h),different precursor concentrationsanddifferentsolventsbyusingHg(Br)2 and2-(benzylidene amino)benzenethiolasstartingreagents.ApplicationofanewthioSchiff-baseas complexingandsulfuringagentwasnoveltyofthisworkforsynthesizingofHgS nanostructures.AnalyseswereemployedtocharacterizingHgSwithdifferentshapes and sizes.Theresultsofthispaperindicatedthattheshapeandsizeofmercurysulfide nanocrystalscansystematicallybecontrolledbysettingcertainreactionparameters,such as typeofsolvent,temperature,precursorconcentrationandreactiontime.
