چکیده مقاله

This paper is going to assess the progressive collapse behavior of seismically code designed steel frame buildings. The structural systems considered are concentrically braced frame (CBF) and moment resisting frame (MRF). The progressive collapse design guidelines typically recommend simplified analysis procedures involving instantaneous removal of specified critical columns in a building. The objective of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of progressive collapse evaluation through numerical simulations such as linear static, non-linear static and non-linear dynamic analysis procedures. The simulated results of considered models showed that non-linear dynamic analysis reflects progressive collapse more accurate than linear analysis. Also, the 3D model is more realistic than 2D model for the progressive collapse analysis.
