CeF3:Dy3+ nanoparticles (NPs) were successfully synthesized through an obvious hydrothermal method, with deionized (DI) water as solvent. In this project, we had used surfactant to create a coverage to control the size of NPs. To characterize the sample (CeF3:Dy3+), some experimental techniques including x-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), photoluminescence (PL) and thermoluminescence (TL) spectrum were used. According to the results, CeF3:Dy3+ NPs are well crystallized and also our product is in hexagonal phase. The average size of NPs is indicated from XRD pattern (using Debye-Sherrer equation) which is in compatible with FE-SEM results. FE-SEM displayed the morphology of NPs.
