چکیده مقاله

Chitosan-polyamide thin-film composite membranes were prepared to desalinate water via nanofiltration process. The synthesis of these membranes included three stages: 1- preparation of acrylic ultrafiltration membranes, 2- modification of its surface by interfacial polymerization, and 3- immersion of membrane into the chitosan solutions. In order to study the performance, pure water flux, flux and rejection of saline solutions were measured. In the presence and absence of chitosan, the pure water flux of polyamide thin- 2 film membrane obtained 39.2 and 42.8 L/h.m at 4 bar pressure, respectively. These were equal to 32.4 2 L/h.m for Na SO solutions. The results showed that chitosan increases hydrophilicity of polyamide 2 4 selective layer and therefore chitosan decreases the fouling level. SEM illustrated the excellent establishment of polyamide layer and chitosan layer on the selective layer.
