Abstract

Seepage from dam reservoirs has been reported in different karstic regions of the world. Water Seepage occurs through the karstic features directly or indirectly. The estimation of seepage locations, path(s), and quantity are subject to error due to uncertainties in the non-homogenous nature of a karstic formation, method of study, and limited investigation due to time and cost factors. In some cases, the seepage occurs during the first impounding and reservoirs may fail to fill despite an extensive investigation program and sealing treatment. Lar Dam is one of these cases. This dam is located on Lar River at southwest slope of Damavand Volcano. The Dam and its reservoir lie on limey formations within a syncline structure
