چکیده مقاله

Die designing and manufacturing through conventional methods, trial-error methods, is time and cost consuming. FE-method as a useful tool has extensive application in industry to reduce the time and cost of production. In the current work, Deform-3D software was applied to design a closed die used for forming process of 6063 aluminum alloy through extrusion. CAD design of die, billet and tools were modeled by Catia software and the resulted models were used as parts for Deform-3D software. Extrusion process was simulated and the results, consisting of geometry of extruded billet as well as temperature and stress gradients, were obtained and analyzed. Designs of die and tools with proper outputs were selected. Mechanical and thermal analyses of deformed parts, to inhibit the formation of defects, were also carried out. Good agreement between experimental and simulation results was observed. It was concluded that Deform-3D software has a good ability to be used in die manufacturing process as it can reduce the time and cost of die production.
