چکیده مقاله

In this paper nanocrystalline Al2O3, MgAl2O4 and CaAl2O4 powders with rather high surface area, about 220, 105 and 36 m2/g respectively, were synthesized by solid state reaction method and employed as support for nickel catalysts in autothermal reforming of methane. The prepared samples were characterized by XRD and BET techniques to confirm its nanocrystalline structure. TPO analysis is also performed to evaluate carbon formation during the autothermal reforming reaction. The results demonstrated a very similar pattern of methane conversion for both MgAl2O4 and CaAl2O4 supported catalysts. TPO signals for spent catalysts in harsh condition revealed the carbon specious over CaAl2O4 supported catalysts since 5Ni/ Al2O3 and 5Ni/ MgAl2O4 didn’t show a considerable carbon formation in TPO analysis.
