چکیده مقاله
Ultrasonic peening is a severe plastic deformation technique that induced to the surface of the materials. The process is carried out on the surface of the samples and changes the properties such as hardness, fatigue resistance, residual stress and resistance to corrosion. The process involves application of compressive residual stress into the surface of the working piece and increases hardness of surface layers. In the present work, an experimental study was carried out to find effects of ultrasonic peening on chemical corrosion behavior of aluminum 7075. The results indicated that by applying high-frequency vibration peening, load transfer resistance increased dramatically, suggesting difference between resistance to corrosion under tensile stress (raw stripped samples) and compressive stress (treated samples). Also, it was found that when the tungsten carbide ball is sued as beating ball, the corrosion resistance of material is significantly enhanced.
