This article addresses the important topic of lustre pottery in Iran and also in the geography of Islamic pottery from both historical and technical perspectives. The important points of this article are to clasify theories related to the origin of lustre pottery, to present a new perspective for their criticism and to recall the role of Iranian scientists and the sources written by them. From a technical perspective this article also explains between the types of lustres and how each is produced. This section attempts to correct common errors in texts related to lustres. Finally, links to a number of films made by the author provide the audience with an introduction to how these pottery pieces are produced.
