Among the pyridine derivatives, 2-amino-3-cyanopyridine derivatives have been an integral part of molecular skeletons for design of a variety of biologically active compounds. Due to the importance of 2-amino-3-cyanopyridines, their synthesis has attracted much attention in recent years and many efforts have been made to develop methodologies for the synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyanopyridine derivatives.
