چکیده مقاله

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are a group of organic compounds that contain two or more fused rings of carbon and hydrogen. PAHs enter the environment from different sources, including combustion flue gases, wastewater and runoff from the petroleum industry. Presences of PAHs in environment are of great concern because many of them are toxic, carcinogenic, and they tend to bioaccumulate in aquatic organisms.1 Some PAHs are capable of interacting with DNA to promote mutagenic and carcinogenic responses.2 Therefore, effective, low-cost and robust methods to decontaminate waters are needed to protect the environment from further stress and endanger human health. In this study, we introduce a new kind of modified graphene oxide (GO) based with high dispersion properties in aqueous solution capable of absorbing aromatic pollutants from aqueous solutions. In this context, the graphene oxide was functionalized with 9-aminoanthracene (GO-9-AA) and compared with graphene for the removal of organic pollutants from water samples. Adsorption equilibrium isotherms (5-40 mg L-1) and adsorption kinetics (0.25-72 h) experiments were carried out.
