A survey on the structure and context of Psalms

چکیده مقاله

Psalms are the most efficient works among the 39 Old Testament. Most of their writings are attributed to David who was the king of the children of Israel ruled from 1000 to 961 B.C. They include 150Psalms read by performing music. The aim of this study is to present general issues regarding the prayer and its position in Judaism, to the prophet David, the importance of Psalms and their nomination literate and artistic characteristics, and the date of composition. Then, Psalms are classified contextually to: praising, Thanksgiving, repent history, kingdom, education, religion, curse, complaint, wisdom, and trust. Their theological, anthropologic, historic, and philosophical structures are presented, and finally16 different characteristics of Gnostic thoughts along with examples indicating this great work are mentioned.
