چکیده مقاله

Thiazoles with sulfur and nitrogen in structures are in many natural and synthetic products with wide range of pharmacological activities such as anticancer, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antiparkinsonian, anticonvulsant, and anti-inflammatory activities.1 Due to the importance of thiazole derivatives in synthetic and medicinal chemistry, there is need for green and modern methods for preparation of various functionalized thiazoles.2,3 On the other hand, chemical reactions performed through organocatalysts have been developed in organic chemistry. Arginine as an amino acid consists of one carboxyl and four amine groups, which provide more positive charge (−NH2+). Therefore, this natural amino acid used as efficient (organo)-catalyst in organic transformations.4 Herein, we report the synthesis of various functionalized thiazole derivatives from thiourea, iodine and methylcarbonyls using arginine as a homogenous and effective organocatalytic system and gave the products in good yields (scheme 1)
