چکیده مقاله
A total number of 186 (51.6%) significant bacteriuria has been diagnosed. The study highlighted more frequent incidence of UTI in women 143 (76.9%) than men 43 (23.1%). However, 38 (20.5%) Proteus spp. isolates were pathogens of bacteria recognizedby biochemical cultural characteristics. A total of 23 (60.5%) of them belonged to Proteus mirabilis, 12 (31.6%) were identified as Proteus vulgaris and 3 (7.9%) isolates were identified as Proteus penneri. Moreover, the vulnerability of Proteus spp. a collection of antibiotics has been examined. The results indicated that all isolates had high resistance to amoxicillin, ampicillin, ceftriaxone, Ceftazidime, Tobramycin, cefotaxime and were moderately resistant to gentamicin, Nitrofurantoin and Cotrimazole. As for other antibiotics, the results were fairly susceptible to Norfloxacin, Ciprofloxacin,Amikacin, Meropenem and Imipenem. A number of 26 (68.4 %) of Proteus spp. isolates from UTI samples were positive for blaTEM gene while 17 (44.7%) isolates have qnr gene.
